This product is the powder of dried and mature fruits of the star anise plant of the Magnoliaceae family.
Properties
This product has reddish brown powder. The palisade cells of the endocarp are cylindrical, long and slightly thick-walled, and the pit openings are cross-shaped or herringbone-shaped. The seed coat stone cells are yellow, polygonal in appearance, extremely thick in wall, wavy and curved, branch-like in cell cavity, containing brown-black matter, rectangular in cross-section, and the wall is unevenly thickened. The pericarp cells are rectangular, oblong or branch-shaped, with thick walls. Fibers are long, scattered singly or in bundles, diameter ~&, wall lignified, with pits. Mesocarp cells are reddish brown with scattered oil cells. The endosperm cells are polygonal and contain fat droplets and aleurone grains.

Method
Take the powder of this product, add (~) B () mixed solution, and seal tightly , shake for minutes, filter, evaporate the filtrate to dryness, add anhydrous acetate to the residue to dissolve, and use it as the test solution. Take the reference medicinal materials and prepare the reference medicinal material solution in the same way. Take another fennel reference substance, add anhydrous acetate to dissolve it, and use it as the reference substance solution. According to the thin layer chromatography (General Principles) test, absorb the test solution and the above two solutions, respectively point them on the same silica gel thin layer plate with sodium carboxymethylcellulose as the binder, and use stone (~℃) C and B are used as developing agents, unfold, take out, dry, and spray with trisalt test solution. In the chromatogram of the test product, the spots of the same color appear at the positions corresponding to the chromatogram of the reference medicinal material.
